To achieve effective cybersecurity incident response and coordination, pursuant to Section 44 of the Cybersecurity Act 2020, Act 1038. Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) have been earmarked to be established in key sectors based on their needs and criticality, as well as cybersecurity developments in Ghana.
The National CERT (CERT-GH) has been established to facilitate and coordinate cyber-related incident response at the national level among local and international stakeholders including sectoral CERTs.
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) Security Operations Centre (SOC), the National Communications Authority (NCA) CERT, and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) Security Operations Centre (SOC); responsible for the financial, telecommunications and government sectors respectively, have been established to collect and collate cybersecurity incidents and to coordinate responses to these incidents within their sectors. Additional Sectoral CERTs are being established by the CSA and relevant stakeholders as required. Established Sectoral CERTs are required to submit monthly reports covering their operations.
