CSA BUILDS THE CAPACITY OF DPC STAFF TO ENHANCE DIGITAL SAFETY

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has conducted a cybersecurity training session for the Data Protection Commission (DPC) staff. The initiative highlights the growing recognition of the need for robust cross-agency capacity building and collaboration to safeguard the nation’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.

The event took place at the DPC head office in Accra on April 10, 2025.

Opening the session, the Executive Director of the DPC, Dr. Arnold Elton Kavaarpuo, lauded the long-standing partnership between the DPC and CSA, both members of the Joint Cybersecurity Committee (JCC), indicating that the collaboration is relevant in advancing Ghana’s broader cybersecurity and data protection goals. “Our joint efforts are vital in addressing the ever-evolving challenges in the digital space,” he stated. He called for continued inter-agency training and knowledge sharing to enhance institutional and national resilience.

The Deputy Director-General, Regulatory Operations at the CSA, Dr. Jamal Seidu Tonzua, highlighted the importance of lifelong learning in the ever-evolving cyber landscape, urging participants to stay vigilant and informed to effectively combat emerging threats.

The training featured a series of presentations that covered emerging threats such as cyberbullying, phishing, and data breaches. The participants were also taken through mobile device security and why they must activate 2-factor and multi-factor authentications, regularly review app permissions, use strong passwords and avoid public Wi-Fi.

The following CSA officials took turns educating the DPC staff: Mary Ama Bawa, Nelson Herald Darko and Cynthia Maku Dassinor.
