CSA Drives Cyber Hygiene Campaign at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to Strengthen Digital Security and Resilience

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has strengthened institutional resilience against cyber threats with a comprehensive cyber hygiene training for staff of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

The training, held on Friday, 27th March 2026, brought together 75 participants, spanning senior management to junior staff, underscoring a unified institutional commitment to safer cyber behaviour.

In an era where digital systems underpin governance, education and service delivery, the training highlighted the urgent need for heightened vigilance and responsible online conduct. Participants were taken through practical and evolving cyber risks, including cybercrime, online fraud particularly the growing menace of mobile money (MoMo) fraud, unauthorised access and other emerging digital threats. The sessions were designed not only to inform but to equip the staff with actionable knowledge to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber incidents.

Facilitators from the CSA emphasized that cyber threats are no longer abstract, they are immediate, targeted and increasingly sophisticated. Institutions such as GTEC, which play a critical role in Ghana’s education ecosystem, must therefore embed strong cyber hygiene practices into their daily operations to safeguard sensitive data and maintain public trust.

The training also reinforced the importance of individual responsibility in cybersecurity. Staff were encouraged to adopt safe practices such as strong password management, vigilance against phishing attempts, secure handling of information and prompt reporting of suspicious activities. The interactive nature of the session enabled participants to relate real-life scenarios to their work environment, making the learning both practical and impactful.
