CSA HOLDS NCSAM 2025 MEDIA LAUNCH

The Media launch of the 2025 edition of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) has been held in Accra ahead of the celebration in October.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), stressed that cybersecurity is everyone’s business and thus called on all stakeholders, including Government, Ministries, Departments, Agencies, private sector businesses, irrespective of size, academia, civil society, and individual citizens alike, to complement CSA’s efforts by conducting cybersecurity awareness initiatives during the month of October and beyond.

He acknowledged the role of the media in building the relevant national momentum towards a safer, more informed, and accountable digital space. “Securing our digital space is a shared responsibility. The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations is committed to providing leadership, technical guidance, and support through the CSA, but it is only through collaboration that we can succeed” – he added.

Adding to his call, the Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, revealed that cyber threats were on the ascendency and urged the public to take cybersecurity awareness seriously. “Every day in Ghana, individuals fall victim to online scams. Government officials, institutions and businesses are impersonated to perpetuate job recruitment scams, contract scams and online shopping scams, leading to financial loss. Others, including children, are vulnerable to online blackmail and sextortion” .

COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the Police CID, called on all and sundry to join in the fight against cybercrime, stressing that government, private sector, academia, media, and ordinary citizens all have roles to play.

Other speakers, including Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, reminded the public that cyberspace is not inherently safe. Sharing her personal experience of online disinformation, she emphasised the role of academia in driving research, innovation, and capacity building for national cyber resilience.
