CSA MOVES TO ENHANCE CYBERSECURITY COLLABORATION
In a significant step towards bolstering Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) held discussions with an IT solutions provider, Docutech Ghana and its subsidiary, DigiAlert to explore possible areas of cooperation.
The meeting was also to foster strategic partnerships to enhance cybersecurity awareness, capacity building, and technological advancements in the country.
The acting Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, underscored Ghana’s pivotal role as a cybersecurity leader in West Africa and touched on the importance of business continuity measures, particularly through data backup and resilience strategies.
“There is the need to expand the country’s capabilities in Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), which remains underdeveloped,” he added.
The Managing Director of Docutech Ghana, Mr Jean-Louis Feghali, noted that DigiAlert is in the process of securing a license to operate in Ghana, with the long-term vision of developing innovative solutions, enhancing local expertise, and positioning Ghana as a regional hub for cybersecurity.
He stressed the need to engage the CSA as a regulatory authority to ensure compliance and seamless integration into the nation’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
Mr Suryakumar Selvaraj, co-founder and Director of DigiAlert, expressed a keen interest in understanding the local landscape and contributing to strengthening competencies through certifications and capacity-building programs.
The discussions also explored potential collaborative initiatives to educate organisations and individuals on cybersecurity threats and best practices. The National Cyber Security Awareness Month was identified as a strategic opportunity for partnership, with proposed joint events and bootcamps aimed at equipping cybersecurity practitioners with the necessary skills.
In response to the bootcamp initiative, Mr. Selvaraj suggested that trained professionals from Ghana could participate in international bootcamps in India to gain advanced skills and collaborate in global cybersecurity competitions. This initiative aligns with the broader objective of positioning Ghana as a key player in the global cybersecurity space.
