CYBER SECURITY AUTHORITY PARTNER WITH EDEM TO CREATE CYBER AWARENESS ACROSS GHANA

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has launched the Safer Digital Ghana Campaign 2025; a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity awareness and digital safety across the country.

A soft launch and ambassadorial signing ceremony for the campaign was held in Accra on July 16, 2025.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Director-General of the CSA, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, described the campaign as “a reaffirmation of our national commitment to digital safety, responsible online behaviour, and the protection of all citizens in the digital space.”

Mr. Agbeti explained that the campaign will adopt a comprehensive, inclusive and targeted approach, focusing on four key audiences: Children, the public, Businesses, and Government institutions. Children and the public will be equipped with knowledge on safe internet practices, online privacy, and digital citizenship. Businesses will also receive guidance on securing infrastructure and data, while public sector institutions will be supported to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks.

“The internet offers incredible opportunities,” Mr. Agbeti noted, “but it also harbours serious risks from cyberbullying and identity theft to misinformation and online fraud especially for our most vulnerable citizens and this campaign is part of our national responses.”

“We want every Ghanaian from school children to entrepreneurs to public servants to understand the risks and take proactive steps to protect themselves online,” Mr. Agbeti stressed.

He indicated that, “cybersecurity is not just the responsibility of governments or tech experts. It is everybody’s responsibility’ and thus called for collaboration, urging public and private sector stakeholders to support the campaign and help create a resilient cybersecurity culture. “Every person and every institution are a potential target,” he said. “Together, we must raise awareness and build structures that ensure a secure and resilient digital Ghana.”

As part of the event, Mr. Denning Edem Hotor, a popular Ghanaian musician, who had been selected as Brand Ambassador for the campaign, signed the ambassadorial contract and indicated his committed to using his platform to promote cyber hygiene, encourage the reporting of cyber incidents and to champion safe internet practices, particularly among young people.

The Safer Digital Ghana Campaign 2025 is spearheaded by the CSA with support from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and forms part of the broader Ghana Digital Acceleration Project funded by the World Bank.

The nationwide campaign will span all 16 regions of Ghana, using multiple languages to reach Ghanaians from all walks of life with particular focus on Children, the Public, Businesses, and Government using Television, Radio, Newspaper, Outdoor and Online forms of communication.
