CYBERSECURITY AUTHORITY CONDUCTS CYBER HYGIENE TRAINING FOR PETROLEUM HUB DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION STAFF
On May 27, 2025, the Cybersecurity Authority (CSA) conducted a comprehensive cyber hygiene training session for staff of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC).
This initiative aligns with the CSA’s nationwide strategy to strengthen cybersecurity posture across critical public sector institutions and key stakeholders. Held at the PHDC’s Accra headquarters, the session engaged both management and staff from Accra and the Jomoro operational site on emerging cyber threats and the reinforcement of institutional cybersecurity protocols.
Ms. Mary Ama Bawa, Lead Facilitator from the CSA, underscored the necessity of fostering a cyber-resilient public sector, particularly as Ghana advances its digital transformation agenda.
“Entities such as PHDC are strategic national assets and must be equipped with the requisite knowledge to mitigate cyber risks and counter adversarial threats,” she emphasised.Mr. Kwaku Manu, the Co-Facilitator, further elaborated that “in today’s interconnected landscape, critical infrastructure devoid of robust cybersecurity measures is inherently vulnerable. As PHDC drives Ghana’s ambition to become a competitive petroleum hub, its digital ecosystems are prime targets for cyber espionage, sabotage, and malicious exploitation.”
The session encompassed best practices in phishing attack mitigation, secure data handling and encryption protocols, password hygiene and multi-factor authentication (MFA), and safe internet browsing and threat detection.
Mr. Derrick Osei, PHDC’s Human Resource Lead, commended the initiative, stating that it was both timely and mission-critical. “As we position Ghana as a regional petroleum hub, ensuring cyber resilience across our operational and human assets is paramount. We appreciate the CSA’s strategic partnership in fortifying our defences.” He sated.
This engagement forms part of the CSA’s Cybersecurity Awareness Programme, designed to enhance cyber hygiene among government agencies, critical information infrastructure (CII) operators, and private sector entities.
