GHCCI MEMBERS UNDERGO CYBERSECURITY TRAINING
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has delivered cybersecurity training sessions for professionals in Ghana’s construction sector under the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GHCCI).
Conducted in Dodowa, Tamale, and Kumasi, these sessions were designed to equip GHCCI executives and members with the essential knowledge and skills to safeguard their businesses against emerging cyber threats.
A Senior Manager at the Computer Emergency Response Team – Ghana (CERT GH), Mr. Isaac Socrates Mensah and a Principal Manager and a Principal Manager at the Capacity Building and Awareness Creation unit both at the CSA took turns to facilitate the engagement.
Recognising the urgent need for cybersecurity preparedness within the construction industry, the CSA and GHCCI jointly developed a cybersecurity training manual designed to build capacity among industry stakeholders, focusing on cybersecurity risks, legal compliance, and best practices for safeguarding digital transactions and sensitive data.
The inaugural training session took place at Dodowa in February this year for GHCCI executives followed by regional training sessions in Tamale for the northern zone and Kumasi for the for and central zones.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the GHCCI, Mr. Emmanuel Cherry, the Chief Executive Officer of GHCCI emphasised the critical role of cybersecurity in the modern construction industry as he highlighted the growing risks associated with cyber threats and the need for industry players to be proactive in securing their operations.
The training highlights included e-commerce security, cybersecurity threats in the construction sector, cybersecurity best practices, legal and regulatory considerations and incident reporting mechanisms.
