The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Mr Roey Gilad, has paid a courtesy visit to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) to discuss the evolving role of cybersecurity in Ghana-Israel bilateral relations. The visit marked the third engagement between the two institutions in just seven months.

Ambassador Gilad described cybersecurity as the most dynamic and forward-looking area of cooperation for his tenure, noting that it has quickly risen to the forefront of the two countries’ strategic agenda. He reaffirmed Israel’s global leadership in the sector, citing Israel’s cutting-edge technological advancements and its internationally recognised expertise in both offensive and defensive cyber operations.

He highlighted growing international collaboration, noting the participation of 20 Ghanaian companies in a major cybersecurity conference in Israel in March 2025—one of the largest foreign delegations in the sector. He expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential to become a regional hub for cybersecurity excellence.

The Ambassador added that the upcoming Cyber Week in June will serve as a key platform to expand partnerships and foster innovation across borders.

Responding to the Ambassador, Mr Divine Selase Agbeti, Acting Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, welcomed the strong and growing cooperation with Israel. He acknowledged Israel’s global leadership in cybersecurity, particularly in advanced software solutions, tools, and capacity-building initiatives.

Mr Agbeti highlighted the CSA’s active partnerships with several Israeli firms and expressed keen interest in expanding these engagements to ensure enhanced digital protection for Ghana’s citizens, businesses, and critical infrastructure.

The CSA used the occasion to highlight its regulatory mandate under Act 1038, which requires that all cybersecurity service providers, including international companies, be duly licensed and accredited. The Authority stressed that partnerships between foreign and Ghanaian firms are essential, as they align with national objectives for localisation, compliance, and capacity development.

The Authority urged the Israeli High Commission to support the upcoming National Cybersecurity Challenge, which aims to promote cyber safety among young people and strengthen Ghana’s framework for child online protection.
