STUDENTS IN ODA SENSITISED ON CYBER HYGIENE
Students at the Community Health Nurses Training School (CHNTS) and the Oda Senior High School in the Eastern Region have undergone a cybersecurity awareness sensitization to equip them with the requisite knowledge to confidently harness the benefits of technology while mitigating the inherent risks posed by cyber threats.
A Principal Manager at the Capacity Building and Awareness Creation unit, Mr. Eric Kafui Bansah, and a Senior Manager at the Child Online Protection unit, both at the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), equipped the students with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard sensitive information, such as personal data, financial records, and intellectual property, from unauthorised access, theft, or manipulation.
At the CHNTS, Mr. Bansah walked the students through the various cyber threats and their detrimental impact on healthcare institutions, as well as the as well as the mitigation strategies crucial for safeguarding sensitive patient data and upholding data privacy standards in healthcare settings.
He underscored the significance of securing mobile devices used for work purposes and practicing responsible use of social media platforms to prevent unauthorised access and data leaks.
There were practical sessions for students to demonstrate what they had learned, including identifying, preventing, and responding to cyber threats effectively and aligning with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for ensuring a secure digital environment for patient information and healthcare operations.
Oda Senior High SchoolAt Oda Senior High School, Mr. Darko urged the students to adopt best cyber practices as he guided them on the "dos and don'ts" of social media and internet usage in general.
The CSA team underscored the significance of cybercrime and cybersecurity incident reporting points of contact, ensuring students were aware of where to report any related incidents.
Earlier, the Principal of the CHNTS, Mr. Jonas Abekah Baah, in his welcome remarks, stressed the crucial role of technology in modern healthcare, highlighting the significance of cybersecurity, especially in safeguarding patient data and maintaining confidentiality for healthcare professionals.
